anyone interested in another swap some weekend this month? i imagine the weather will be better earlier in the month, but i also realize this is kind of short notice. i don't have a lot to get rid of this time, but i would like to squeeze in one last bbq and empty some stuff out before it gets chilly.

Here's a handy way to tell: Place an egg at the bottom of a glass full of water and watch what happens.

* If the egg lies at the bottom on its side, it's fresh.
* If the egg sinks, but with one end up, it's getting old but is still edible.
* If the egg floats at all, you should buy some fresh ones.

This test is effective because eggshells are porous — over time they dry out, letting air in and moisture out.

i have a pair of shoes that i freaking love and are on their last legs (bwahaha! i crack me up!). they look fine still, but the sole is completely worn out in spots and the inside liner thing is all pulled up and a general mess. i know nothing about shoe repair, but i figure that the sole, at the very least, could probably be replaced or something, can't it? has anyone ever had this done? any recommendations for where to go (or not go) or things to look for? how the heck much does this even cost?

i'm looking for 2 quiz things that i'm hoping someone else will remember and be able to point me in the right direction. one asked you a series of "pick the first one that comes to mind" questions, then told you something about yourself based on your selections. the other asked you to choose between two pictures many, many, many times and eventually told you your type. i can't remember if that one had a male AND female type or if there was only a female version, 'cause i only remember that my chic type is apparently mila kunis and keira knightley. either of these ring a bell at all?

if a shirt has both black and brown, is it ok to wear either black or brown pants/shoes/accessories? i can never decide! does the amount of black/brown in the shirt make the difference? for instance, if a shirt is mostly black but has some sort of brown pattern, are brown pants not allowed?

today, i'm wearing a shirt that is probably mostly black, but has ared, beige, and cream pattern. i'm wearing it with denim slacks, but i couldn't decide between the brown or black jackets. i went with brown, but now i'm thinking it was a mistake. for the record, i'm wearing red shoes. why is fashion so hard?

i had a really bizarre dream about google this morning. they put out a board game that involved rolling die to go around a board and different chips (or hits as they were called) for each player. san fran was the test market for the game, and not long after it was released, people started getting sick. dc sent 2 government agents (fbi?) to investigate, and they decided to play the game on their layover on the way out there. once they got there, they weren't finding anything about the game that might make people sick, but they too started not feeling quite right. somehow or another, the sexual tension between the two agents got to be too much, and they ended up kissing in the heat of some argument. they both immediately got much sicker, but more importantly, the male agent grew a giant alien penis and weird arm tentacles. he told the female agent that it was their duty to make as many babies as possible (which apparently only takes a few hours for them now that they've been infected or whatever) so they could grow up to play the new google game.

it was discovered that a male and female had to kiss after playing the game to set the mutation into action. these two agents just so happened to be the only straight people to have played the game and kissed since the game's release. google had made a boo-boo by releasing it in san fran. so they gays had an uprise using this as fuel against the christian argument that gays are destroying our society. finally, hetero couples posed a much higher threat to society than gays!

it was still being determined if google was run by one or more aliens that had found a way to turn humans into aliens by way of the game or if it was some sort of virus that was being spread by the game.

do you frequently run into a problem where you've just discovered you're on your last pair of clean underwear?

i drove by a taco bell tonite, and their sign said "spicy chicken makes more than your mouth burn."

so, this diet has me cooking a lot more and experimenting a lot more, too. i already told you about the lamb chops i made, but tonite i made veal. i pan fried it in oil with garlic, pepper, and marsala cooking wine. i overdid it a bit with the pepper, and i'm guessing i cooked it a little too much, 'cause it was a little on the chewy side.

yesterday i made a recipe from the 15-minute low-carb recipe book that was surprisingly simple and fast (i always assume those recipes are 15 minutes if you're an expert cook) and tasty! chicken, alfredo sauce (i used one with mushrooms), cauliflower, and broccoli. oh yeah, i also threw in bits of salami. very yum.

i also tried making a burger with sausage and apple pieces. it was only ok and not worth the effort. AND! i actually ate and completely finished a bag of salad mix! i never finish those things before they need to be thrown away.

i'm going to try to dig up a recipe for bean salad that i think might be worth trying. i'm not sure how easy it'll be to find something interesting without celery, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.

i've been asked to be the undergraduate class marshall for pitt's sis commencement ceremony in april. that apparently means i'd just lead the line of graduates, but something tells me it'd mean more. either way, it doesn't matter, 'cause i'm not going, so can't lead the line!

wtf...and now i've been nominated for another award, but this one i have to actually do something to get. did i really do that much better than the rest of the people in the school? c'mon people...step it up.

i made a tasty dinner tonite that i thought was worth mentioning for two reasons:

1) it was tasty, and i wanted to tell you about it! the interesting part was the meat, of course. i broiled lamb chops after marinating them in extra virgin olive oil, worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper, garlic, and whisky. it turned out fabtastically.

2) even though i'd had it on the list already, i wasn't positive i'd eaten lamb until tonite. i like! yum!
